Wayne McKenzie (Senior Consultant, Auckland) and his wife, Pam, are in Thailand for 3 weeks doing volunteer work at an OMF mission retreat centre. (OMF International) They have joined a team from New Zealand at 'The Pines' in Prachuap, south of Bangkok, to do repairs and refurbishment at the centre, which is provided for mission workers in Asia. The centre is an important asset for workers and families, providing a relaxing place for rest and recreation, enabling them to sustain long term ministry away from their home country. Major renovations are the responsibility of contractors on site, and the volunteer team is responsible for two smaller projects: repairing and re-roofing a boat shed, and replacing about 60 windows. The work is not unduly difficult, but with daytime temperatures in the high 30s and high humidity, with much of the work outside in the sun, it takes its toll on some of the team who are not young anymore. There are plenty of benefits though, with beautiful Thai food, and a pool to relax in after work is finished each day, plus the reward of seeing the centre brought back to a pristine condition for families to enjoy.

AskRIGHT is celebrating a major milestone and some exciting changes! As we welcome 2024, here at AskRIGHT we are celebrating both a major milestone and some exciting changes. This year marks our 20th anniversary and we are proud to celebrate arriving at this major point in the business’s history. As we step into our third decade, there are some exciting changes ahead for the company. From January 2024, AskRIGHT will become a New Zealand based company and with the retirement of our founder Daniel McDiarmid, we are delighted to announce ownership of the business is passing onto three of its existing consultants, Clare Bridle, Louise Walters and Fi Riley. We still have the same name, the same faces, and the same commitment to excellent client service. We are incredibly proud of the strong foundation that twenty years of service to the not-for-profit sector has created for the new owners to build on. Our smaller, New Zealand based team, is an agile business able to work seamlessly with and within teams to support fundraising needs; from developing strategies to undertaking feasibility studies, providing coaching and mentoring to delivering fundraising campaigns. It just remains for us to say a big thank you to so many people who have walked alongside us during the past twenty years. To our founder Daniel McDiarmid for his wisdom and foresight, to our consultants past and present who have brought AskRIGHT’s work to life, and our wonderful clients and partners who offer us a channel for our purpose and passions to flourish. We very much look forward to working with you as we begin our next chapter.

What a lovely treat for three of our consultants to connect yesterday over a coffee. As consultants, our primary focus is working with our clients and helping them to solve their big challenges, but behind the scenes we are all one big team, supporting each other and offering advice and perspective. It can be really lovely every now and then to step back from the formality of meetings and just go for a coffee and have a natter. Tag a colleague you would love to go for a coffee with!

We’ve loved collaborating with the team at Amnesty International New Zealand for the past few months on creating their gifts in Wills strategy. As with all great fundraising, the key to success has been integration and collaboration, and this passionate team of people have worked together to create a best in class programme. Yesterday we had the pleasure of presenting our final roadmap to the team at their new HQ and taking a celebration photo to toast the end of this exciting project. A big thank you to everyone involved in this brilliant piece of work.
